Functional evaluation

Functional evaluation of solutions is an essential step in the development of payment terminals and related applications. This type of evaluation verifies compliance toward specifications. In the field of banking applications, ELITT offers a range of assessments to help terminal vendors to ensure compatibility of their products with French and international specifications and optimize their developments and risk management.

Each test session is accompanied by a comprehensive test report including all results and potential nonconformities encountered.

ELITT also proposes support sessions and technical expertise in order to better prepare formal assessments in all these areas. During these sessions, ELITT supports vendors in the analysis of their bugs and noncompliance.

Scope

EMVCo

ELITT is EMVCo Level 2 accredited and can assess the terminals according to the international standard. The purpose of testing is to verify functional compatibility between the card and the terminal.

Cartes Bancaires "CB"

Evaluation according to the “Cartes Bancaires CB” standard allows to validate product compliance to the specification and manuals CB (MPE, MPA and MPADS) from a functional and a protocol point of view (link acceptor - acquirer). This assessment is mandatory for systems installed in France.

VISA and MasterCard integration tests

Depending on the type of international application, Visa and MasterCard integration testing are needed to validate the operation of the terminal on the field:
VISA tests: "Acquirer Device Validation Tool Kit (ADVT)" for contact cards and VpTT for contactless cards
MasterCard tests: "Easy Test Card (ETEC)" for contact and PayPass cards for contactless cards.
Both ADVT certification tests and ETEC (AOS Approval of Supplier) are required for the accreditation of terminals on the French market.

AFAS

Payment machines as well as ATMs (ATMs - ATMs) are being evaluated following Anti-Fishing - Anti-Skimming (AFAS) specifications. This evaluation validates the robustness against attacks specific to this equipment.

OSCar

Since January 2013, ELITT has added to its range of services OSCar assessments for both terminals and acquiring systems. This assessment allows project participants to start their OSCar pilots. More information on the OSCar project can be found here.
